چکیده

We present results obtained (by exact diagonalization) for the problem of two t−J planes with an interlayer coupling t⊥. Our results for small hole concentrations show that in-plane superconducting correlations are enhanced by t⊥. When the constraint on double occupancy in the t−Jmodel is relaxed, the enhancement disappears. These results illustrate the inter–layer tunneling mechanism for superconductivity.

Resonant Pair Tunneling and Singular effects of c-axis disorder in cuprate and organic superconductors

In the interlayer pair tunneling (ILPT) theory of superconductivity the large scale Tc has its origin in the k-space locality of the inter layer pair tunneling matrix elements. We reinterpret the same physics as a process of resonant pair tunneling and illustrate it through cooper pair analysis. This interpretation is used to give a mechanism which leads to a singular suppression of Tc as funct...

Enhancement of Superconducting correlation due to interlayer tunneling

Interlayer single particle tunneling between the Cu − O layers suppress the inplane short range magnetic order (which is modeled as spin density wave (SDW) insulator). Doping over the SDW state kills perfect nesting of the Fermi surface (FS) in certain directions and hence SDW gap reduces to zero in those directions of the FS. Coupling between the planes through interlayer tunneling (t⊥) furthe...

Fundamental constraints for the mechanism of superconductivity in cuprates

Considerable progress has been made over the last decade in understanding the phenomenological properties of the cuprate high-Tc superconductors and in producing well characterized high quality materials. Nevertheless, the pairing mechanism itself remains controversial. We establish a criterion to test theories for layered superconductors relying on a substantial interlayer contribution. The cr...

MECHANISM OF HIGH-Tc SUPERCONDUCTIVITY BASED MAINLY ON TUNNELING MEASUREMENTS IN CUPRATES∗

The main purpose of this brief review is to present a sketch of the mechanism of high-Tc superconductivity based mainly on tunneling measurements in cuprates. In the review, we shall mostly discuss tunneling spectroscopy in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8. Analysis of the data shows that the Cooper pairs in cuprates are topological excitations (e.g. quasi-one dimensional bisolitons, discrete breathers etc.), and...

In the interlayer theory of high temperature superconductivity the interlayer pair tunneling (similar to the Josephson or Lawrence-Doniach) energy is the motivation for superconductivity. This connection requires two experimentally verifiable identities. First, the coherent normal state conductance must be too small relative to the “Josephson” coupling energy, and second, the Josephson coupling...
